We offer Private Eco Charters for families, groups of friends and businesses who want to experience Kangaroo Island on their own terms. We cover the whole island and you can select one of the pre set itinerarys, or we can customise an itinerary for you based on your needs or special interests.

Private Eco Cabin Accommodation

Although there is a range of accommodation options at our dispossal, for the true Eco experience we recommend the Ante Chamber Bay Eco Cabins, located in a natural bush setting at Ante Chamber Bay, the cabins have been designed and built with full eco specifications and are only 50 metres from the beautiful Ante Chamber Bay Beach.

Native wildlife, especially Kangaroos, Tamar Wallabies (extinct on mainland Australia) and Possums also occupy the property and can be easily seen grazing around the cabins at night, penguins also call the sand dunes home and can be seen, completelty in the wild comming ashore on the beach after a hard days fishing.

Ante Chamber Bay is a large natural bay with a white sandy beach located on the eastern end of Kangaroo Island. The beach is sheltered and very safe for swimming. Behind the beach the Chapman River winds it's way throught the sand dunes where it enters the ocean on the beach and the area contains ample native vegitation, much of it protected by the Lashmar Conservation Park.

The eco features of the accommodation includes;

• Solar powered lighting and refrigeration.

  Solar panels are used to collect electricity to power lights and refrigeration but you won't even notice the difference!

• Rainwater Colection.

  Rainwater is collected from the roofs of all buildings on the property and stored in a series of interlinked tanks that enable sharing of the water.

• Solar heated hot water.

  The solar heated water is held in recycled aluminium drums and heavily insulated in the Amenities Centre roof.

• Self-composting odourless toilets.

  Australian-made Nature-Loos - they are chemical free, use no water and don't pollute the environment. Better than that they are 100% odourless!

• Use of recycled and plantation building materials.

  Australian cyprus pine was used as it is a natural white ant deterrent. Plumbing fittings, kitchen areas and much of the building timber and windows are recycled materials.

• Chemical Free Cleaning.

  No chemicals are used to clean the facilities. Kangaroo Island's Emu Ridge eucalyptus oil in a 10/90 water mix is used for its natural disinfectant properties. Enjo fibres are used with small amounts of water and bicarbonate of soda is used as an abrasive cleaner. Vanilla essence is used in a 10/90 water mix as a fridge deodoriser.

Active Adventure Tours.

The style of tours we offer are designed to get you into the wilderness experienceing Kangaroo Islands outstanding natural environment and wildlife. There are a selection of short walks or longer hikes which you can participate in as well as opportunitues to view wildlife in the wild, and importantly it is done within an Eco framework.

And just because you are out in the bush by day it doesn't mean you can't sample some of natures finer foods and wine, we provide a range or delicous local fresh food and Kangaroo Island wine for you to enjoy while you tour.

 

 

 

Bio Diesel Luxury 4WD Vehicle.

Our private charter vehicle is a late model Toyota Langdcruiser GXL, this is an extremely comfortable vehicle with lots of room, it is fuly airconditioned front and rear and even fitted with a DVD player, a bonus for long drives especially if you have children.

The vehicle seats up to 7 passengers, the rear seats are smaller and not designed for giants, the are well suited to children and smaller adults

The vehcile is powered with Bio Diesel fuel, this is an enviromentally friendly fuel manufactured from canola and other agricultural oils, it is 100% biodegradable, emits far less life cycle Carbon Dioxide and far fewer harmful exhaust emissions.

The vehcile is also fitted with a CD palyer, with a selection of CD's and iPod transmitter so you can acces your favourite music as we tour. In addition there are a number of reference books on wildlife available for you to read.

Tours depart from Adelaide

Our private eco tours start in Adelaide, so you don't need to worry about the hassle or expense of actually getting to Kangaroo Island, your guide will pick you up in the luxury 4WD vehicle on the first day of the tour, drive you too the island via the ferry and drop you back at you accommdation in Adelaide.

Many people also like to fly to Kangaroo Island from Adelaide, this is definately an option we cater for and we simply meet you on Kangaroo Island, some people also mix it up a bit, for example catching the ferry to Kangaroo Island, and then flying home. All these options are possible however they will normally incur a higher cost.

Kangaroo Island Wildlife

Kangaroo Island is one of the best places in Australia to view native wildlife in it's natural habitat, Kangaroos, Koalas, Platypus, Tammar Wallabies, Echidnas, Glossy Black Cockatoos, Australian Sea Lions & New Zealand Fur Seals are often seen on tour.

There are 2 main reasons why Kangaroo Island is so good for seeing wildlife?

• A relatively large proportion of native vegetation remains (approx 25% of KI is National Park and many more hectares are devoted to conservation). This gives animal populations a better chance to survive and reproduce sustainably in suitable habitats. Flinders Chase National Park is a prime example of this. In addition, there are no rabbits on Kangaroo Island, rabbits have been very successful on mainland australia and compete for food.
• There are less predators on Kangaroo Island than on the mainland. Aboriginal people lived on Kangaroo island a long time ago, but not for the past 10 000 years. In particular, no foxes are found on KI. Foxes have decimated wildlife on the mainland.
• A prime example of how much effect foxes and rabbits can have on a species is the Tammar Wallaby, these little creatures can be seen all over Kangaroo Island and are abundant, yet just 16 kilometres away on the mainland, they have been extinct for nearly 90 years.
