Kangaroo Island Surfing

Surfing at Middleton

Kangaroo Island Surfing

Whales at Middleton

The first day of this 3 day Kanagroo Island tour is spent on the mainland in an area called Middleton on the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. This is a beautiful section of coastline containing long sandy beaches and great surfing waves, it is also a breading ground for the Southern Right Whale.

If you ever wanted to learn to surf then this is your opportunity, during the warmer Summer months you are given a free surfing lesson together with a qualified surfing instructor and all equipment including wet suits and surf boards. Whether you are a beginner or experienced surfer, Middleton has plenty to offer and is one of the most popular surfing beaches in South Australia, with plenty of waves for everyone your instructor should have you standing up and surfing in no time.

After enjoying an afternoon hike to the Bluff near Victor Harbour, it's time to head for Cape Jervis where in th late afternoon you'll be treated to a private dolphin charter boat ride to Kangaroo Island, not only is this boat quicker than the large ferry, but you will also actively search for dolphins as you cross to the island (sometimes the Ferry is used, especially in bad weather)

During the cooler winter months, Middleton is home to Southern Right Whales, who migrate to the sheltered bays from Antarctica to breed and give birth. Instead of surfing (way too cold), you'll do some whale watching and do the popular Bluff hike. Then crossing to Kangaroo Island at around Lunchtime, enjoying more time on the Island exploring Kelly Hill Caves.

The private accommodation on the South Coast of Kangaroo Island is sensational, located on a 500 acre property, an old shearing shed has been converted on to dorm style accommodation. Inside is comfortable beds with linen provided and a great lounge area and open fireplace, outside is lot of bush, a creek, a campfire, and heaps of wildlife, especially at night, expect to see Kangaroos, Wallabies, Koalas and Possums right by the Woolshed.

Tonight you can enjoy the peace on quiet of island life and head out for a nocturnal with your guide.
